In 2014-2015 artists working with Damon Locks and Sarah Ross, created a body of works that considered self-representation. Large scale portraits were created using, in most cases, the only photograph artists at Stateville had-- their prison ID. Here, the artists distorted and subverted the state issued document by using pattern and shape to remake the image of themselves. In a series of screen prints artists were asked to develop portraits without representing themselves but instead looking at place and people that shaped them.
